What does President Obama eat while he’s in town?
Seattle chef Tom Douglas says he and his team are honored to be cooking up and serving the leader of the free world during his visit to the Puget Sound area Friday.
Douglas told 97.3 KIRO FM’s Ross and Burbank Show they basically got a phone call asking if he would cater an event and Douglas accepted.
“I’m a big fan of our president and the office of president in general.”
While Douglas wouldn’t divulge the exact menu, he did say that the president has eaten his coconut creme pie four times.
The first time Obama ate the pie was during a visit with Sen. Maria Cantwell at the Palace Ballroom. Douglas said Obama didn’t have enough time to finish up dessert, so he sneaked a pie out to the president’s limo.
A couple of days later, Douglas received a phone call from Obama.
“Yo Tom, this is Barack. That coconut creme pie was over the top, dude.”
Douglas said he’s not nervous for the event, but more excited.
“My team is on their toes. It’s a fun interlude for us.”
