Mariners sign Bonderman
By Shannon Drayer
The Mariners announced today that they have signed right-handed pitcher Jeremy Bonderman to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training. Bonderman, who has not pitched since 2010, underwent successful Tommy John surgery in April and has been working out at his home in the Tri-Cities to attempt a comeback.
The Mariners do have spots in the rotation to fill and while Bonderman will be given the opportunity to compete for one of them, this signing is by no means guarantees him anything. He is a low risk/possible reward guy and we will no doubt see a number of those signed before spring training, as Jack Zduriencik has had success with these types of pitchers in the past.
