How will Wedge juggle his lineup?
By Shannon Drayer
Mike Carp is here and Miguel Olivo has been placed on the 15 day DL. He will see the team doctors and be evaluated further on Friday after the team returns from the road trip. I would expect him to miss more than 15 days.
Eric Wedge is going with two catchers and really didn't shed a lot of light on how he would juggle the lineup or use the DH spot that should be open more going forward. This is a topic I discussed with Brock and Salk earlier today on 710 ESPN.
Other questions addressed are how long I believe the Mariners can carry Chone Figgins and what his role will turn into if he doesn't pick things up with the bat soon, how Mike Carp will be worked into the lineup, whether or not I believe it would be better to go with three catchers in Olivo's absence and more about how Wedge handled the bunting situation with Michael Saunders Monday night. The podcast can be heard here.
