I think this will probably be the line up for the remainder of the year with the exception of Olivo who may start playing less as Wedge gets a clearer view of what Jaso & Montero can do. The only remaining question in my mind is what we do with Guti. My first inclination is to release Figgins, see if Guti can stick or if he continues to get injured. Between him Carp & Saunders we should be able to come up with a resonable outfield.

I cannot believe that there has been a 2+ hr. discussion on Ichiro in the batting order. I would bet that this is the only station in the country where the sportscasters spend hours discussing batting order- like it's such a hugh issue. Could you imagine a discussion like this on a NY radio station which covers the Yanks? Shows you the difference between covering an organization that is successful vs. an organization which is at the barrel's bottom. Who believes the problem with the Mariners' dismal offensive production is a result of the wrong batting order?

Dear New, I am originally from the NY metro area. This would be a weeks discussion on the WFAN if they moved Jeter so 2 hrs on Ichiro feel lucky.

We should trade Ichiro. Let him know he deserves to be on a winning team with a chance to go to the world series. I would do a strate trade for Ichiro if someone took Figgins with him :)

This is the exact lineup I can see the Mariners using the majority of the season. It makes sense. Let's keep the same lineup for a 2 week period and see the numbers........ We need to void tonight however, Felix is pitching. We all know he's gonna get screwed by this offense no matter what the lineup is.

Could you address the accusations that people have been making about Ichiro lately in this blog?

Things like he can bat wherever he likes in the lineup and no one will go against him. (even if that's true, is that really so different than star players on other teams? Probably we notice it more because the team isn't doing well?)

Also were Iwakuma and Kawasaki only brought in to be friends to Ichiro, and did he really promise he'd play better if he had friends on the team?

Did Mike Hargrove really leave because Ichiro wanted him gone?

Just my take on it, I think it's much more likely that Hargrove didn't get what he wanted with Ichiro so he wanted to leave. Who knows though. But the fact that he hasn't coached since then is telling. Still an incredibly weird situation though.

Just prey tell who's spot Ichiro is taking up? What Mariners star is sitting the bench? Guti isn't here. He, Adam Moore and Darren Ford are in Peoria in extended spring training and still must do a rehab assignment before Jack and company have to make a decision. Maybe then you will all get your Figgins wish but that is not NOW! Guti looked good hitting but remember this was extend spring training and against pitching that was not major league caliber. Who would you like playing right field after the adventure we had the other night with fielding when Ichiro took his first night off all season? Carp who is hitting less than Ichiro and gets replaced in late innings for defensive purposes? Alex Liddi who I think will be a star hitter for us after he stops striking out so much and is just learning the outfield? Figgins in right in place of Ichiro? Didn't think so. That's all folks since Casper Wells got sent to the Rainers. What i see as a real problem now is at catcher. Montero was getting his needed experience behind the plate and Jaso was getting his better bat and fielding into the game when they rotated. Another decision for Jack when Adam Moore finishes rehab. I just wish Brendan Ryan would start hitting like I know he can to go with his unbelievable fielding that everyone is taking for granted.

The problem isn't that he is blocking anyone else from that role. It's that he doesn't deserve to bat leadoff based off his stats and approach at the plate. You cannot argue that Saunders numbers fit that role better then Ichiro right now. He gets on base more often then Ichiro. Plus he is actually part of the future of this team. Ichiro is not. It's time to move on. Praise Ichiro all you want for his past ahievements, but that shouldn't be the basis for where he is played. And on a fielding note. Right field is the outfield spot where you are supposed to be able to put your weakest fielder who can hit, usually with some pop. Ichiro is the exact opposite. The other ridiculous thing about what you had to say, is that you are still on the Adam Moore bandwagon. So once again, it's time to move on buddy. He is 28 years old, cant stay healthy, and has been horrible with the bat the few times he had played. I bet you still want Griffey to be playing on this team as well don't you? Give it up. We are rebuilding. As long as we are not going to compete we don't need to see declining, againg players.

My post was more out of frustration, I still think Ichiro can hit to an extent, I just don't want him at leadoff, especially since Ackley had a .365 OBP since he was there. I've just soured on him a lot the last few years as his skills have deteriorated, he's not a leader in any shape or form, and if he's not performing I don't really see any reason to keep him around.

They definitely shouldn't keep him past this season. And he shouldn't bat first or be in every day.
