Thanks for the "final note" and the warning to the children here who can't disagree without their little boy language. However, the emotionally challenged will usually default to name calling when they feel injured by someone's comment.

Take this one for instance. I copied it from two posts ago:

Your boy wcremedy24 wrote that in response to "seattle don't deserve mlb team" on June 2nd, time stamped at 3:38 AM. All over a disagreement about Ichiro.

Like I said, that is how the emotionally challenged adults and children argue, so he may not be able to control it.

However, it does kind of cheapen the blog when commenters like that go unchecked.

Since this is a baseball blog, wouldn't it be great if we talked baseball. It's Ok to disagree but we should do so with respect. This name calling totally unnecessary. As for the Mariners today...Sale pitched an excellent game and had our number. Not a think we can do about it but "tip our hat" to him and go on to Los Angeles. Sure would love to see us sweep the Angels to return the "favor". Now...at the risk of showing Felix some concern, he just hasn't looked very sharp this year. In his 11 starts, he's only been really sharp in about 4 of them. Wedge & Willis need to look at his mechanics to see if he is off somewhere.

I apologize if the language I used offended you. I just get really irritated when people come here strictly for the purpose of trolling Mariners topics. I mean, the guys name is "Seattle doesn't deserve MLB team". Anyone who wants our franchise to relocate just shouldn't be posting here period IMO. He also took a low blow towards the Sonics situation which was something that I was close to personally and that really irritated me. He called me a racist for just stating frustration with Ichiro moving up in the lineup. But yeah, I took it overboard and said some things I shouldn't have. Sorry to Shannon and anyone else that was offended, won't happen again.

Apart from the obvious head-scratcher over having Wells in AAA at the moment, the M's pretty much put out the closest thing to a right-handed lineup they could today against a lefty... and um, it didn't really work.

Perhaps the M's should ditch on getting too clever with lefty/righty matchups, and especially throw out the "he hits really well against (insert pitcher here)" sorts of things, and just run out the same lineup each day for a week or so. It's been 2 months. You're starting to have an idea of who can do what. And really, this is supposedly a youth movement sort of year... how are the kids going to learn if you platoon them so much that you're nerfing them? They have to learn how to hit all kinds of pitchers if they're going to be the core of the future teams.

If you sort by the sabermetric stat wRC+, you get something like this: Jaso, Seager, Saunders, Ackley, Smoak, Montero, Ichiro, Liddi, Wells, Carp, Figgins, Ryan, Olivo. Tweaking a bit for lineup roles and positions, why not just run out the following lineup for a week, barring injury, and see what happens? Ackley (2b) Saunders (CF) Seager (3b) Smoak (1b) Montero (C) Jaso (DH) Ichiro (RF) Liddi (LF) Ryan (SS) The Liddi thing is borderline; could see Wells for defense, or Liddi for offense. Heck, DH Ichiro and get Wells some playing time in right, and you still have Jaso as day-after-night-game catcher. But still. Everyday lineup as much as possible, eh?

Yeah, agonizing over lefty/righty I find sorta goofy. If you can hit, you can hit. Edgar was never pulled for a left handed bat or Junior for a righty when the opposing manager changed pitchers. If you're going to be a major leaguer, you gotta learn to hit 'em all.

Like Chris, I'd also be curious to see the same 7 or 8 guys in there regularly for a couple of weeks, just to see if anything gels. I'd go Ichiro, mostly for ego/comfort reasons, Saunders, Seager, Montero (C/DH), Smoak, Ackley, Jaso (C/DH), Carp/Liddi, Kawasaki/Ryan. I put Muni ahead of Ryan because, the recent 8th inning offensive outburst aside, I'm getting real tired of watching Ryan at the plate.

I see a "Report this as abuse" button. Does clicking this make any difference. I don't always read the comments because I don't want see anything that responds to the person instead of responding to the comment. But the comment, "You sound just like a stereotypical Asian" followed by "Faggot" should have been immediately stripped from the comments. Both of those comments have nothing acceptable about them in today's world. When one is typing you have the opportunity to reread and realize how ugly and inappropriate that is.

i agree with "chris"! we are 55 games into the season! a pretty santdard "order" should be appearent to a "good manager"! the "kids" need to play from a known spot! become accoustomed to an order!! with what smoak did last year from the 5-hole!(300+) that would make simply sense to me!! it is time to stop DHing olivo as he doesn't need more time, like jaso, carp, smoak, liddi, seager!! these are the guys that should be getting more at-bats!! and a "re-called" wells?!!

I'm with davba - let's all click on the "report as abuse" button until the abusers get the message. One would have to think that clicking on that button actually does something. But I'm probably being over-optimistic. If Felix really is injured enough to miss a start, we M's fans have bigger things to worry about than some name-calling.

jsean: I COULDN'T AGREE MORE! Wedge, in my opinion, is over coaching here. He says he can't put out the same lineup because he doesn't know what he's got in hitters... maybe that's because he's jumbling around most of them on a regular basis. Does it bother anyone else that Carp is seeing minimum playing time and isn't getting anything on a regular basis? Wasn't he supposed to be an important offensive piece this year? Tough to do that when you've got him platooning with the worst player in baseball! (Figgins... probably didn't have to say his name.)

Wedge needs to stop the platooning/over analyzing crud and let these boys play. Fact is Olivo and Figgins aren't part of the future! Stop platooning them!!! It is the equivalent to walking blindfolded down the middle of the wrong side of the street simply because you can!
