An adorable 7-year-old Seattle podcaster steals Rantz’s thunder

I am, admittedly, a petty person.
I get jealous really easily; I get slighted really easily. I have an incredibly huge ego but no self-esteem whatsoever. So, in other words, I’m a talk-show host.
That’s what made me so disgusted by how KING 5 covered a 7-year-old Seattle Podcaster named Ellie … She is being treated so much better than I am!
Ellie hosts a podcast with her dad called “Ellie and Papa Abe” and she’s getting the same caliber of guests as I get on this show. Only, you know what, I have a sneaking suspicion that it’s because she’s all cute and adorable and a 7-year-old. I’m hardly any of those things!

People like SPD Chief Kathleen O’Toole and Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission president Jeff Lilley — I struggle to get them on this show. They eventually relent, but this 7-year-old, what do you think she had to do to book them? Think she has to jump through the hoops we have to? This girl is an A-list talent. She just shows up to the studio and her dad does all the work for her.
Alright, I admit it. This is professional jealousy. She’s got a career. I’m on at night. I got my start on radio at 15. At age 7, she’s already doing broadcast better than I’m doing it now.
But you know what’s the worst part? This adorable little girl wants to interview Seahawks players.
I will say this right now: If she gets Russell Wilson or Richard Sherman, I think I just need to leave broadcasting forever. I’m not gonna compete with that. I refuse to compete with that.
And if I do leave, they will probably hire her. Because she works, literally, for candy and cookies.
On the positive side, we are getting Seahawks punter Jon Ryan in studio to be a guest co-host. Stay tuned for details. Also, when you’re done listening to Ellie, check out some of KIRO’s great podcasts.
