Let’s take a break from the fiscal cliff to talk about the end of the world

It’s an object called Nibiru.

“Nibiru is supposed to be a planet that is four times the size of the earth. It’s going to get very close to the earth and cause all kinds of disasters.

This is a NASA video designed to discredit various websites which have been warning their millions of followers that on December 21st a wayward planet is going to fulfill the Mayan Calendar.

“Their calendar does not end on December 21st. It’s just the end of the cycle and the beginning of a new one,” says the video.

But that video hasn’t got nearly as many hits as this woman.

“Be in your safe locations well before the last weeks,” says Nancy Lieder.

She runs a website called ZetaTalk, and claims that alien messages picked up by a chip in her brain are warning that the planet Nibiru is approaching. NASA thinks this is nonsense.

“So this enormous planet is supposed to be coming toward earth, but if it were, we would have seen it long ago,” says the NASA video.

But that hasn’t stopped the aliens from predicting that this planet will shift the earths axis, which, it turns out would be very bad for our infrastructure.

“Roadways will heave, trains will derail and bridges will snap and drop,” says Lieder.

Again NASA says no, it can’t happen.

“The rotation axis can’t shift because the orbit of the moon around the earth stabilizes it and doesn’t allow it to shift,” says NASA.

So don’t worry, the earth’s axis isn’t going to suddenly shift on December 21st. But even if it does, all of us know one thing is certain: Taxes on the richest Americans are going up.

Ross: Are we killing car culture? Or is car culture killing the US?

I don’t think the question is whether we're going to "kill" our car culture. The real question is can we stop our car culture from killing the U.S.?
