Washington State beats Washington 72-67
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - D.J. Shelton scored 20 points and grabbed 18 rebounds as Washington State beat Washington 72-67 on Saturday, breaking a four-game losing streak.
C.J. Wilcox scored 24 points to lead Washington (13-9, 5-4 Pac-12), which had beaten the Cougars six straight times dating to 2011. The Huskies were done in by 38.9 percent shooting in the second half.
Que Johnson added 15 points for Washington State (9-12, 2-7).
The game marked the return of WSU leading scorer DaVonte Lacy, who missed eight of the past nine games with appendicitis and an unrelated rib injury. He scored 10 points, well below his average of 17.7 points, but was most effective in the late going.
Washington State has struggled to score without Lacy as the Cougars are last in the Pac-12 in points per game (62) and field goal percentage (.413).
