If you’ve been dying to live in a world where a steady diet of tacos and pizza is acceptable, then washed down with cup-after-cup of coffee, well, you’re in luck. At least for a day. The Gilmore Girls is coming to Seattle. Luke’s Diner will take over three Seattle coffee shops this week. And the coffee is free.
Luke’s Diner, of course, is the famous hub in the fictional town of Stars Hollow where the Gilmore Girls lived, on TV, from 2000-2007. Netflix is bringing them back for a four-episode event in November — Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The episodes debut on Nov. 25. In short, each episode is 90 minutes and takes place over one season (autumn, winter, spring and summer), updating us all on the life of Lorelai, Rory and everyone else in their quirky world.
In the lead up to the big return, Luke’s Diners are popping up all over the country, including in Seattle. And it’s not just one — three Luke’s Diners will appear in Seattle on Oct. 5 from 7 a.m to noon.
• Makeda Coffee: 153 N. 78th St.
• Stone Way Cafe: 3510 Stone Way North
• Drip City Coffee Co.: 2929 1st Ave., Suite B
Besides the Netflix release, the Oct. 5 event commemorates the 16th anniversary of the first Gilmore Girls episode.
It’s also not just free coffee and a Luke’s Diner experience that the shops will offer. According to Eater.com, fans could find a special surprise under their Gilmore Girls coffee sleeve.
Not around Seattle? The closest cities with Luke’s Diners popping up are Portland and Vancouver, B.C. Check out the event’s website.
