Dempsey disappointed with 2-game suspension

SEATTLE (AP) – Clint Dempsey says he was disappointed by the two-game suspension issued by Major League Soccer just before a major international appearance for the U.S. national team against Mexico.

Dempsey spoke for the first time about his suspension after the Seattle Sounders practice Thursday. He said he doesn't agree with the decision but that there isn't any point in worrying about it now.

Dempsey was suspended for violent conduct toward Toronto FC defender Mark Bloom in a March 15 match. The MLS players union appealed but the suspension was upheld. Dempsey sat last week when Seattle won at Montreal and will be a spectator Saturday when the Sounders host Columbus.

Dempsey will play for the U.S. next Wednesday against Mexico. His next MLS game is April 5 when Seattle faces Portland.
