If we want to, there's literally zero need to go out and sign big name FA's at all... we could technically draft our needs... did you not see how our season finished? We are literally right there! We are good enough to beat the guys that were playing in the Superbowl... Now i don't think we WILL just let FA go by and not make any moves... We will likely make more moves than any of us anticipate based on this Coach and GM's track record, but, I don't think the pressure is on this team to make big moves... Hopefully we can continue to draft well and fill holes with the draft instead of FA...

John Schneider and company will at look at free agecy. They may or may not go for the big splash. The purpose for free agency is to fill needs. True the Hawks don't have as many needs as other teams. I think the Hawks should address the defensive line in free agency. But also in the draft. You remember that both Jason Jones and Alan Branch are free agents. Also their is no guarentee that Chris Clemons will be ready to start the season. So the Hawks do have needs at defensive tackle and defensive end. The Hawks cannot expect to fill all their needs on the defensive line just through the draft.

I fully agree. That is always the case, not just with this current Seahawks team. A football team is typically very high maintenance which is why teams who elevate themselves into contention usually have such a short window. Look at what happened to the '85 Bears, '86 Giants, '87 Redskins, '00 Ravens. Even the 49er dynasty had a tendency to take a significant fall off the perch if they didn't constantly make good offseason moves. They would inevitably find their way back on top again after a season or two but the deterioration factor is always there. The youth of this Seahawk team definitely helps them and gives them a bit of an edge to stay around the top of the league for a while. But the forces that can tear the team back down again, forces both from without or within (as in other teams getting better and the Hawks always facing the risk of age and injury) will never go away. They just have to keep getting better. The best teams that do that over the last 10 years or so have been the Patriots and Steelers, which is why they've managed to stay competitive year in and year out while many other contenders have come and gone in that span of time. I don't mean to say the Hawks need to go after big name free agents all the time but they just need due diligence every year to try and retain their own who are worth keeping and offset their losses by picking up other worthy free agents. It just never ends.

That is a recipe for stagnation or regression. JS and PC built this team with draft picks and youth at it's core, and then "compliment" with free agents. That's exactly what they will continue to do this year. Always looking for opportunities to get better.

Based on recent history, I think that Pete and John will continue to look under every rock, and in every nook and cranny to find players-along with considering the ones who are right out in the open. While it is tempting for fans to think that the team has no glaring needs, they really do; as pertaining to the defensive line, a linebacker, a wideout and a tight end. We cannot expect the team to displace their core players, but at the same time they need to keep the roster churning a bit so that the mental edge does not dull. Since the NFL is a 12 month endeavor for the fans as well, the next few months should be very interesting.
