Jarrett Bell on his challenge to Richard Sherman
Richard Sherman spoke to high school students at his alma mater in Compton, Calif. Wednesday about setting goals and overcoming socio-economic hurdles.
A day later he was hurling insults and touting his accolades during an appearance on ESPN's "First Take".
Jarrett Bell of USA Today wants to see more of the former and less of the latter from the Seahawks cornerback. That, he says, was the intended message of his latest column.
"... Richard Sherman is on a stage now in the NFL, and he has people's attention," Bell told "Brock and Salk" Thursday, "and hopefully this discussion and maybe other discussions elsewhere and beyond this moment will bring that out, that Richard Sherman has a great platform where he can send a lot of good messages to a lot of people. And I'm not saying he hasn't done that to this point, but again, when you Google search, or every time I have seen him in a news story it seems like it's something that borders on self-promotion or over-the-top rants or something like that."

Brock Huard has co-hosted the show since 2009. After earning Gatorade Player of the Year honors at Puyallup High School, Brock went on to a record-setting career at Washington and then spent six years in the NFL, including four with the Seahawks. Brock has also spent five years with ESPN working as a college football analyst in the booth and the studio. Brock makes his home on the Eastside with his wife Molly and their three young children.
