How far will Seahawks go to keep David Hawthorne?
Pete Carroll told "Brock and Salk" on Tuesday that the Seahawks and free-agent linebacker David Hawthorne "talk regularly" and that he expects those discussions to ramp up in the next couple days.
That was a few hours before middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch reportedly signed a five-year deal to remain with the Lions, who were supposed to meet with Hawthorne on Tuesday. Hawthorne also had a free-agent visit with the Saints last week.
Hawthorne, 26, became a starter in 2009 after making the team as an undrafted free agent the year before. He played through a knee injury last season and still led the Seahawks in tackles for the third consecutive year.
"We love what David gave to us and brought to us," Carroll said. "This is free agency time, and, man, it can get hard."
Brock and Salk discuss in Tuesday's Wrap Up video how far they think the Seahawks will go to re-sign Hawthorne.
