A body recovered Saturday in western Grant County was identified as the King County firefighter missing since last Saturday, authorities said.

There were no signs of foul play, sheriff’s deputies said.

Ken Ward, 43, was last seen October 15 in Roslyn, Wash. Dozens of people joined the statewide search.

Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, a man scouting for deer found Ward’s body near the Wild Horse Monument along Interstate 90, about nine miles west of George, authorities said.  Ward was a short distance from his white 2007 Dodge Ram truck, which was parked near the monument. His family and colleagues were notified.

Ward lived in Renton and had three children. He was a firefighter with Mountain View Fire and Rescue for 10 years.

“Ken’s family and everyone at Mountain View Fire & Rescue would like to thank everyone that helped us in the search for Fire Firefighter Ward,” department spokesman Tim Perciful said in a statement. “We had over 100 off-duty firefighters, police officers, and other individuals help search across the state. This extensive search covered the entire state using personal vehicles, ATVs, helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft.”

There were no immediate details on memorial services for Ward.

“Our thoughts are with Ken’s family as we all mourn the loss of our brother,” Perciful said.
