Second serious crash this week along MLK Jr. Way blocks road, light rail

Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Link Light Rail tracks were blocked by a serious-injury crash in South Seattle Friday morning.
A vehicle slammed into an electric pole around 4:45 a.m. at South Cloverdale Street. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle before being taken to Harborview Medical Center.
Link Light Rail is suspended until around 9:30 a.m.. MLK Way was closed until around 7:30 a.m. when all but one lane reopened.
Seattle police report the driver exhibited signs of impairment and was processed for DUI.
The crash on MLK Jr. Way this morning is the second this week that has been serious enough to block the road.
Law enforcement found a car split in half Tuesday morning in a crash that may have resulted from racing, according to police. The driver in that crash died.
