False charges of racism

Liberal commentators have attempted to tarnish Donald Trump’s astonishing victory by blaming racism for his triumph. But the simple arithmetic of GOP success proves that racism had little to do with it.
In 2016, Mr. Trump got fewer white votes than any of the three prior GOP nominees, Romney, McCain or George W. Bush, at the same time that he got a higher percentage of the black and Latino vote than Romney or McCain. Where, then, is the evidence that he relied on racial bigotry?
Barack Obama, the only black nominee in history, didn’t do poorly with white voters –he got more of their votes than the white Democrats who preceded and followed him.
In 2016 one true racist was on the ballot – David Duke, Nazi and Klansman, ran for Senate in Louisiana. In the primary, he placed 7th, with only 3% of the vote – appropriately rejected by Republicans and everyone else.
