More than 80 flights have been canceled at Sea-Tac airport as the region deals with icy conditions.
As of 6 a.m., 32 departures and 52 arrivals were canceled, according to KIRO 7. At least 35 of the cancellations are from Alaska Airlines.
On Monday night, Alaska Airlines pre-canceled 35 flights from 6 a.m. to noon, which the airline says is the airport’s busiest time for departures.
“Additional precipitation is forecasted tonight (Monday) with cold temperatures settling in, creating the potential for ice at the airport and on aircraft,” the airline posted on its blog. “That requires deicing of planes before they can takeoff.”

Poor weather puts an even greater strain on an already busy airport, according to Alaska Airlines. Pre-canceling will help crews keep up with a demanding workload that will include deicing aircraft.
Customers will be notified if their flight is canceled, but the airline recommends passengers check on flight status before heading to the airport.
Customers are able to change or refund tickets without incurring a fee for travel on Dec. 5 and 6.
KIRO 7 reports there is no snow at the airport and the temperature is about 33 degrees.
