Only a few dozen people gathered at Town Hall Seattle to watch the inauguration of Donald Trump Friday morning, and several were visibly upset.

Trump takes charge: Sworn in as nation’s 45th president

KIRO Radio’s Hanna Scott says that, for the most part, “the majority of people here were very quiet as Trump was sworn in as president.”

“There were people who were so upset about Trump being president and too upset to speak about it, but felt the need to be engaged,” she explained.

The lone Trump supporter in the room applauded several times during Trump’s 16-minute 12-second speech.

During his speech, the 45th president said he would empower the country’s “forgotten men and women.” He vowed to stir “new national pride,” and said he would bring jobs back to the country while eradicating Islamic terrorism.

“From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land. From this day forward, it’s going to be only, ‘America First,” Trump said.

The supporter, who identified himself as Art, says he’s concerned about some of the decisive things the new president says, but all of that is outweighed by the fact that he believes Trump will bring change to Washington D.C. and the way politics work in our country.

More than 60 House Democrats refused to attend his swearing-in ceremony in the shadow of the Capitol dome, the Associated Press reports. One Democrat who did sit among the dignitaries was Hillary Clinton, the president’s vanquished campaign rival who was widely expected by both parties to be the one taking the oath of office.

At 70, the 45th president is the oldest person to be sworn into office, marking a generational step backward after two terms for Barack Obama, one of the youngest presidents to serve as commander in chief.
