I don’t live in fear and I don’t need a politician to save me

I think Trump’s desire to always support law enforcement is genuine. This is a guy who went to military school, though he could never have been in the military, because he’s not the kind of guy who can take orders.

But I’ve had a bit of discomfort with the president trying to scare people about terrorism being a far greater threat than we realize. What’s the purpose of statements like those? They seem like they are said to scare people. His recent travel ban executive order is a perfect example.
When any power seeker wants to scare you, they always also want to save you. I don’t need someone to save me; I want someone to enforce the law. I don’t live in fear of terrorists or terrorism. And I don’t know other people who are either.
And I don’t fear drug cartels. I want them destroyed, but I’m not willing to trade due process in exchange for some false promise.
The instincts of the President always seem to stress authority instead of liberty. And the travel ban executive order was laid out in an authoritarian fashion. Had it been done differently it would have been so much more difficult for the “outrage machine” to hold up the administration’s plans.
