What does feminism mean in America in 2017?

Feminism used to mean that women should escape the bonds that a truly male-dominated society had constructed. There was a time when it meant something.
But the left is extremely skilled at taking over movements.

Can a feminist be pro-life? Does feminism now equate to abortion? How is it an act against feminism to be against taking away a life in the womb? Does that limit feminine power?
If abortion was made illegal, it would limit a woman’s choice in life. But there are plenty of choices before it gets to that point. There’s the choice to go on a date; the choice to become intimate; the choice to use birth control. I do part company when the choice is based on rape or incest because then the women’s choice has been stolen.
Are you more of a feminist if you celebrate abortion? Are you anti-feminist if you’re pro school choice? Is Betsy Devos not a feminist because of her stance on education?
A listener says that feminism is taking control of your own future, whether it’s being a stay at home mom or a corporate lawyer. She says that she thinks the word feminism has been grossly distorted to fit someone else’s definition of what is best for a woman.
And I concur.
