If Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn gets his way, the Seahawks’ flag will be flying in our nation’s capitol Monday.
McGinn tweeted that he has made a gentlemen’s bet with Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray involving Sunday’s playoff game between the Seahawks and Redskins.
Bet with @mayorvincegray for @Seahawks vs. @Redskins game. Mayor of losing city must fly victor’s flag at their city hall for one day.
Mayor Gray responded, “Bet accepted. Looking forward to a great game.”
The Associated Press football writer thinks there’s a good chance our Seahawks’ flag could fly over D.C.
AP Pro Football writer Barry Wilner calls our game the “juiciest of the weekend’s matchups.”
He writes:
Rookie quarterbacks Robert Griffin III for the Redskins and Russell Wilson for the Seahawks have been sensational, like Indy’s Luck. RG3 showed enough mobility in the win over Dallas to clinch the division, and his knee should be even stronger on Sunday to provide the double-threat potential that highlights his game.
Wilson is healthy and has similar skills. Even more encouraging for him is the Seahawks have an intimidating, resourceful defense with the speed to slow down Washington’s offense. Seattle also has learned how to win on the road.
He predicts, SEAHAWKS, 23-16.
What’s your guess about Sunday’s game?
