BALL OF WAX

The Ball of Wax 31 Release Show is happening at Columbia City Theatre and it's going to be awesome. 15 local bands were picked to take part in this extra special 'Covers Edition' which will have each performer taking on the challenge of covering each other's songs.

From Ball of Wax website: For the release show, each of the 15 performers will play two songs: their cover version and their original version of the song someone else covered - so throughout the night you will hear 2 different versions each of 15 songs.

Ball of Wax Volume 31, Columbia City Theater, Saturday, March 9, $8 advance / $10 doors (includes a free copy of Ball of Wax 31), Performances by Alicia Amiri, Norman Baker, Robb Benson, Emiko Blalock, Jeremy Burk, Shenandoah Davis, Brad Dunn, The Foghorns, Levi Fuller, Led to Sea, The Music of Grayface, Colin J Nelson, Bret Alain Philips (Oldman Winter), Caitlin Sherman (Slow Skate), and Virgin of the Birds

TRUST/ERAAS

Trust is the alter ego of Toronto artist Robert Alfons and was formed in 2009 along with collaborator Maya Postepski. Since 2011, Trust has performed with DFA1979, Crystal Castles, Austra, Balam Acab, Glass Candy and Hercules and Love Affair and garnered glowing praise from top international critics at Pitchfork, VICE, The Guardian UK and many more. Trust's Tales of lust, wax, and erotomania carry along on a dense black vapor of speed, space and tears. Trust is a pop hit factory buried deep in the mud.

From ERAAS' Bandcamp: In 2011, the band's founding members, Robert Toher and Austin Stawiarz, both ex-members of New England-based project Apse, were gravitating more towards ritualistic and darker themes not fully explored in their previous incarnation. The album plays out more like a single coherent entity than a simple collection of songs, the tracks emerging ghost-like from the shadows and then receding into interludes of whispers and strange, abstract samples.

Barboza Presents: Trust with ERAAS + Nightmare Fortress Sunday March 10, 2013 $12 ADV // 21+
