Sasquatch! Music Fest is this weekendon May 23, 2013 @ 4:20 pm (Updated: 6:14 pm - 5/23/13 )
Sasquatch! Music Fest for the last several years and I must say that the festival just keeps getting better and better. There's no reason for me to rattle off all of the awesome bands you should see this weekend because as is most likely the case, you are a hip, young person who already has your 'to-do' list printed out, interests highlighted with cute little smiley faces next to the most important bands you intend to see.
However, because this a web log where I try to inform you of music things, I feel like I've got to put something of interest worth your while on this page for you to peruse and hopefully take some interest in. So, I'll pretend that you know nothing about all of the cool local bands playing the fest and suggest a few for ya.
Here's a short list:
Telekinesis: Michael Lerner is the mastermind behind this project. If you like catchy pop/rock songs, then this is your bag, baby. Yes!
Robert DeLong: Robert has a background in drumming and uses video-game components, such as a Wii remote and a joystick, connected to a MIDI interface, to modify his sound. Cool!
Deep Sea Diver: Jessica Dobson is the singer and guitarist for this band and is also a touring guitarist for The Shins. Now she's making her own rock and roll sounds. Sweet!
Brothers From Another: This trio from Seattle make smart hip hop music and really enjoy tacos. What's not to love? Holla!
Rose Windows: These folks are a seven piece and make music that sounds like something that would have been made decades ago. Fresh!
Also, I was lucky enough to get to chat with Brothers From Another before they hit the road for Sasquatch! Music Fest. They dropped by to chat Sasquatch!, stage names, recording in a closet after having drinks and tacos plus Brothers From Another give Steven Graham (of the What Radio? blog) and myself our very own stage names.
Listen to that chat here.
