If you’ve been longing for a warm day in the Seattle area, you just might be in luck at the end of the week.
On Friday, we could finally be enjoying our first day with 60-degree weather this year, according to National Weather Service Meteorologist Mike McFarland.
“It’s been raining nearly every day, but the sun will come out … We do have a chance to finally hit 60 degrees and the best chance will be on Friday,” he said.
Don’t get your hopes up too much, though. Current forecasts call for mid- to upper-50s. But McFarland is optimistic that at least some of Western Washington will enjoy a little warmth.
Until then, however, KIRO 7 Meteorologist Nick Allard says we can expect to see more rain.
As of mid-day Wednesday, SeaTac specifically was about 2 inches away from breaking a rain record. The record is 9.44 inches.
Allard says it is unlikely we will set a monthly record for rain totals.
However, another record was set. According to the Weather Service, precipitation since Feb. 1 reached about 16 inches total. In 120-plus years of weather records, this is the fourth wettest February through March, according to the Weather Service.
