Seattle’s history on Monday Night Football

It’s a big night for the Seahawks, and for one of Russell Wilson’s biggest fans from ESPN.
With the sports world watching the Seahawks on Monday Night Football, Quarterback Russell Wilson will get the start.
ESPN color commentator Jon Gruden was an early believer in Wilson’s ability.
“I hope he runs for president down the line. He’s the kind of guy we need,” Gruden told sports columnist Jerry Brewer from The Seattle Times.
Gruden isn’t just hopping on the Russell Wilson bandwagon. He’s been pulling it since before April, when Wilson was taken as a Hawk’s third round draft pick.
Back then Gruden said, “If I were Tarvaris Jackson and Matt Flynn, I’d be leery of this kid because if you give him a chance and look past his 5 foot 11 or 5-10 and a half or whatever it is, if you give this kid a legitimate chance to win the job, he’ll win it. That’s how much confidence I have in him.”
Matt Flynn will be watching his old team, the Green Bay Packers, from the sidelines.
Gruden also says of Wilson, “This is a supreme kid. His intangibles are off the chart.”
Coming off their huge 27-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the Seahawks are hoping to make keep the momentum going with a nationally televised game.
Seattle hasn’t lost a Monday night game since 2004.
They are undefeated against the Packers on Monday nights.
Seattle also owns two of the most one-sided games on Monday Night Football: On December 5, 2005, Seattle scored 42 points to Philadelphia’s zero; December 8, 1986 it was the Seahawks 37, Los Angeles zip.
One of the highest scoring games – a total of 82 points – happened on Monday Night Football December 6, 2004. Unfortunately, it was Dallas 43 and Seattle 39.
The weather should be perfect for a 5:30 kick off, but it wasn’t the last time the Hawks played Packers in Seattle during Monday Night Football in the middle of a snow storm.
Any fans who spent the night on I-5 will remember November 27, 2006.
The Seahawks won 34-24, but traffic was paralyzed after the game. Many 12th man fans didn’t get home until early the next morning.
Since the team’s inception in 1976, the Seahawks are 17-8 in Monday night games.
