Another baggage fee from Alaska Airlines

After finally getting the kids to the door of an airplane, you have extra carry-ons end of the ramp for a gate-check. That’ll cost you.
Alaska Airlines will impose a fee to gate-check oversize luggage. Their website says the charge will be “$25 per piece and tagged for delivery to baggage claim at your destination.”
Seattle-based Alaska Airlines, and most others, previously gate-checked items for no extra charge.
Passengers will pay for gate-checking a carry-on bag that exceeds the regulation size, which is 10 by 17 by 24 inches. The new fee is $5 higher than its $20 checked-bag fee, so you might as well check all the other stuff you’re shlepping on vacation.
