Rantz: CNN’s health care hit piece shows you can’t trust them

CNN used to be a great place to get the news but we have yet another example of how far they’ve fallen, doing to President Donald Trump what Fox News did to President Barack Obama.

For some reason, national security reporter Zachary Cohen wrote a piece about “controversial” health care comments by Republican congressman Warren Davidson. The click-bait title, “GOP rep stands by controversial health care comments to mom”, wants you to think the Representative said something outrageous. He didn’t.
A mom at a town hall event asked Rep. Davidson to explain to her son, a service industry worker, why he would be losing his insurance. “Given that preventative health care is the number one way to keep people healthy in our society, can you explain why my son and millions of others in his situation are not deserving of affordable, decent health care that has essential benefits so that he can stay healthy and continue working?”
Rep. Davidson responded: “I don’t know anything about your son, but as you described him, his skills are focused in an industry that doesn’t have the kind of options that you want him to have for health care. So, I don’t believe that these taxpayers here are entitled to give that to him. I believe he’s got the opportunity to go earn those health benefits.”
There’s nothing controversial about these statements; they’re a basic conservative belief that you earn things, like health-care insurance. This was the reality of health-care insurance before Obamacare.
Why would this be described as controversial? Because a Progressive blog told CNN and Cohen that it’s controversial.
This story was first reported by Shareblue. CNN describes them as “left-leaning.” No. They’re not. Their website’s mission is to “… produce practical, factual content to delegitimize Trump’s presidency, embolden the opposition, and empower the majority of Americans to fight.”
The title of the source material for the CNN report? “GOP rep tells mom: Your son’s service industry skills mean he doesn’t deserve health care”. He didn’t say that, of course; that’s the take of the author, Oliver Willis, a former Media Matters research fellow. Again, CNN thinks this is just a left-leaning source.
Shame on CNN. They’re pretending stories are controversial with nefarious intent: to go after Trump and Republicans. If you want to do that, do it; but stop pretending you’re providing news when you’re doing the bidding of far-left blogs. They like to pretend their better than Fox, but they’re doing to Trump what Fox did to Obama.
