It’s astonishing there are people that say the U.S. is prudish

I find it astonishing but there are people on the left that still say that the United States is prudish. But I think we have really skewed the sex act.
There was a case of a man whose ex-boyfriend went on the Grindr app, as the other man, and said that he has “rape fantasies. Come and find me at work. I’m going to say no but be persistent because that’s part of my fantasy.”
This man that is being set up says 1,100 men have shown up at his home in his city.
Am I prudish to be astounded that this many people would respond to that kind of request? Is it not obvious that we have elevated sex far beyond an act of intimacy? We seem to be normalizing sex as an obsession and an addiction.
Our culture sexualizes children at a young age and seems to imply that the sex act is pretty meaningless. I think religions are right when they say that we should contain sexuality as a gift; I think it makes us better people and puts the act in its proper place.
Wouldn’t our society be better if we sort of began to re-contain sex? I think this is, at the very least, an important conversation to have because I don’t hear people addressing it very often.
