Scouting Montana State:
Montana State finished with a 12-17 record overall and 7-9 in Big Sky play. The season ended for the Bobcats when Portland State pummeled them in the opening round of the Big Sky tournament by Portland State 75-53. The offseason was not kind to Montana State. They lost junior forward Tre Johnson after an arrest over the summer. Starting center Mohamed Fall also lost his last season of eligibility. The losses leave the front-line completely devastated. If their exhibition game is any indication the height of the Bobcats starting lineup with be 6'4, 5'9, 6'1, 6'4 and 6'4. They are picked to finish 7th and 8th in the Big Sky by the coached and media.
The Ones to Watch:
Xavier Blount- 6'4 205 SR G- 11.5 ppg 3.5 rbds 2 assts
The combo guard will be expected to carry a good deal of the scoring load for the Bobcats. He can shoot the 3 and will look to penetrate consistently. He is skilled at drawing fouls. He is the the leading returning scorer for Montana State and he touched-up Seattle U for 17 points last year when these teams met.
Antonio Biglow- 6'1 165 JR G- NA- RS Last Year
The guard faced-off against Prince Obasi in high school. He spent two years at San Antonio College. He is extremely athletic and very talented. He has a legitimate chance to take home Big Sky Newcomer of the Year award.
Keys to the Game:
1- Good Start- Seattle U was haunted by the buzzer beater that broke their hearts in game 1 of last season. Good Start to this game = Good Start to the season.
2- Dominate the paint. SU are bigger than they ever have been and they need to take advantage of it against the smaller Bobcats.
3- Test the Bobcats depth. They are short-handed and SU will push the pace to test them.
