The Redmond woman who vowed to live only on water and sunshine for 100 days is giving up her “Living on Light” experiment.
Naveena Shine, who says she has survived only on tea with milk, water and sunlight for the past 47 days, will start eating again and is ending her project Wednesday.
On a Facebook post she writes she needs to end her experiment mainly due to the fact that on Wednesday her telephone and Internet service will be cut off due to non-payment.
Shine maxed out her credit cards buying video and security equipment to record her experiment and prove she wasn’t cheating on her no-food way of living.
The 65-year-old woman also says she’s gotten negative comments about her attempt to survive on water and light alone.
She’s dropped to 126 pounds from her original weight of 159 pounds on her 5-foot, 4-inch frame.
“From the feedback I am getting it is becoming patently clear that most of the world is by no means ready to receive the information I am attempting to produce,” she writes.
“Even if it were true that a person can Live On Light and I were successful in demonstrating that, I see that it would be synonymous with putting a non driver behind the wheel of a huge truck. It would be an accident in the making.”
As her experiment ends, Shine says she sees her Internet and phone service being cut off as “a simple a message from the Universe that it is time to stop.”
