Adios de La Nina. Por favor, no vuelva.

Goodbye La Nina. Please don't come back. The National Weather Service says the two-year weather cycle of La Nina is finished.

La Nina is the flip side of El Nino and is caused by the cooling of the central Pacific Ocean. Scientists say La Nina has brought drought, tropical storms and hurricanes, and tornadoes to other parts of the country.

La Nina in the Pacific Northwest typically translates to a colder, wetter than average autumn and winter, according to the weather service. I don't even remember what "average" is like in Seattle.

I won't complain about the drippy, cool weather because every day like Thursday is just one more day I can wear boots. But, a lot of Little League dads and moms are sick of the soggy mess on the ball fields. Instead of the swish of bats, they're hearing the squish of shoes.

    Sorry Sir, baseball is canceled...
Our baseball field was recently designated as a wetland sanctuary for migratory birds.

We do however have programs for water polo and mud wrestling if you're interested...
