Congratulations to Roosevelt High School's jazz band. The Seattle school's band placed 2nd in the Essentially Ellington High School Jazz competition.
Dillard Center for the Arts, from Fort Lauderdale, took first place in the competition for elite teen musicians at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Other local bands competing included Seattle's Ballard High School jazz band and Mountlake Terrace High. The bands performed before Wynton Marsalis and a panel of judges.
Roosevelt has been to the finals 13 times. Mountlake Terrace made its fifth appearance. This was Ballard's first trip to the finals.
