Traffic backs up for miles after crash on NB I-5 in Tacoma

6:30 a.m. The crash that blocked northbound I-5 through Tacoma for hours has cleared.

5:50 a.m. The semi-truck has been towed, but crews are still cleaning up the fuel spill.

5:30 a.m. Traffic is now backed up about three miles in Tacoma.

A semi truck struck a barrier in a construction zone, blocking all lanes of northbound I-5 in Tacoma.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. at South 38th Street.

The truck is leaking fuel.

As of 4:45 a.m., traffic was backed up to 56th Street, about two miles.

Traffic is being diverted to the 38th Street exit to I-705.

There is no ETA as to when the wreck will be cleared.

It is unknown if there are injuries.
