Plant of the Week: Hypericum 'Ignite Scarlet Red'

"Hypericum 'Ignite Scarlet Red' is one of the most spectacularly colorful shrubs you'll find for your garden. This compact beauty only grows to about 3-feet tall, with dark green foliage that serves as the perfect foil for profuse electric yellow flowers that last all summer and fall, and contrast beautifully with brightly colored reddish-orange berries that occur in late summer and fall. This no-care, drought resistant beauty is highly resistant to rust, hardy to -20 degrees and rarely bothered by deer. Adds fantastic color in container designs, borders or in natural settings." - Ciscoe Morris

Key feature: Bright berry clusters in autumn

Plant type: Shrub

Light needs: Sun

Growth rate: Moderate

Water needs: Moist

Average landscape size: 12-36 inches tall, 12-36 inches wide.
