King Khan & the Shrines @ Neumos

Oct 15, 2013, 4:15 PM | Updated: 7:54 pm

Six long years since the release of What Is?!, cult musical legends King Khan & The Shrines have released their third studio record. Idle No More proves this psychedelic soul band can not only induce feverish frenzied dance floor killers, but also mix it up with timeless hymns and some more serious socio-political issues at the same time. It’s about the state of the world we live in today and it’s King Khan & The Shrines’ most refined piece of music yet.

The album, named after an indigenous rights movement, offers a glimmer of hope in such chaotic times. “Idle No More really documents a very big healing process that I had to go through in the past few years and I hope that this music can help the healing process the world is so badly in need of right now,” says Khan.

King Khan & The Shrines play Neumos, Wednesday, Oct. 16th. Buy tickets here!

NEW MUSIC: Charlie and The Rays release debut album

Charlie and the Rays' debut album is a sprawling pastiche of roots rock and pop. The self-titled album is a gem awash with vocal harmonies, hand claps, wailing guitar licks, and deep swells of emotion.
