Like the record says, It’s Up To Emma – and so, Emma “Scout” Niblett has her guitar and her “Gun” and all her other songs loaded up. Now she’s going down the road, feeling glad – because the new album is a bogglingly visceral experience, but taking it into the clubs and in front of the people was her goal from the start. Friends old and new alike will be welcomed in with a show of her deep siren blues and a wicked grin, all put forth with just a guitar and a drum kit behind her. Make time for Scout Niblett – or she’ll find you, swear to God…

I must say that I am intrigued and a bit scared of Scout Niblett. Maybe it’s the rawness and stripped down intensity of the music, maybe it’s the lyrical content of songs like ‘Your Beat Kicks Back Like Death’ where Scout sings, “We’re all gonna die, we’re all gonna die/We don’t know when, we don’t know how but we’re all gonna die,” or it quite possibly could be the fact that she just looks like she could lash out at you Bjork Style at any moment. If I ever get the chance to meet her my tune may change but until that day happens, I’m happy just enjoying her music.

NEW MUSIC: Charlie and The Rays release debut album

Charlie and the Rays' debut album is a sprawling pastiche of roots rock and pop. The self-titled album is a gem awash with vocal harmonies, hand claps, wailing guitar licks, and deep swells of emotion.
