New Music: ODESZA, ‘Summer’s Gone’

ODESZA is a production duo made up of Harrison Mills (Catacombkid) and Clayton Knight (BeachesBeaches) who are coming out of our own fair city of Seattle. The two met their senior year of college and decided to spend the summer after graduation collaborating on an album. That album turned out to be Summer’s Gone, a free LP released just last September, 2012. From the slick production of the record one would think these two have been in the business for years upon years, but what I’ve learned from scouring the internet, is that it’s only been maybe a couple of years that these two have been making sweet tunes.
Summer’s Gone is rife with cool, breezy synth sounds that float effortlessly around glitchy, chopped up vocals, and all the while an accompaniment of slick beats will have you on the dance floor in no time.
When this record is playing summer isn’t really gone, but rather, it’s paying a visit in order to keep us company through the rainy months ahead.
