It’s probably not something Kurt Cobain would have ever approved, but the writer/producer behind CBS’ hit TV show “The Big Bang Theory” is launching a new sitcom called “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedy is about an 18-year-old budding entrepreneur who skips Harvard to launch an Internet company in his garage with the help of his sister, best friend, and his 1990s indie-rock parents.

“It’s unclear why this thing has to be called ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ other than to piss people off,” writes Buzz Feed’s Matthew Perpetua. “Doesn’t it sometimes seem as though pop culture is just looking for new ways to make you go “Oh, Kurt Cobain would’ve haaaated that?” Kurt Cobain would’ve haaaaaated this!”

The Big Bang Theory’s Dave Goetsch will also write and co-produce the new show in the deal with CBS.

It’s doubtful the cast will include a mulatto, an albino and a mosquito or be set in Seattle. I don’t hate the idea, but the whole indie-rocker parent thing certainly makes me feel old.
