The homeless encampment Nickelsville was flooded by heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday.

Many residents lost property as things like tents and clothing were soaked. Many residents are now in need of goods to keep them warm and dry in the wet weather.

On Tuesday night, The Ron & Don Show encouraged their listeners to bring donations.

Recommendations included tents, clothes, blankets, tarps, firewood, boots and batteries.

On Wednesday morning, KIRO Radio’s Chris Sullivan made a trip down to the homeless encampment.

Chris told Ross and Burbank that things are significantly drier, and they’ve worked out a better drainage system. They’re also keeping tents raised on pallets to keep them dry.

Chris has seen lots of people dropping off donations. He says they still need rain gear, batteries and dry pallets to help keep the tents dry.

Nickelsville is located at 7116 West Marginal Way SW.
