Over the weekend, a couple pretty convincing Starbucks social media ads made the rounds promising a 40 percent discount to customers who are illegal immigrants. The promotional offer coincides with Dreamer Day on Aug. 11. The ad is a total fabrication.

The ads, which feature Starbucks logos and products, read “All undocumented Americans will receive any item* on the Starbucks menu 40% off.” If you use the code “UNAFRAID” you would also earn a free grande cold beverage. On one ad, Frappuccino is misspelled.

It would appear this scam event originated at 4chan.

Starbucks senior vice president of global communications, John Kelly, told the Associated Press that this promotion is “completely false. One hundred percent fake.”

On their Twitter account, Starbucks asked people to “not spread misinformation.”
