Jared Allen is latest challenge for Seahawks' tackles
The Seahawks have fared well against some of the NFL's more productive pass rushers.
This season Seattle has faced seven pass rushers who had at least eight sacks in 2011. Only San Francisco's Aldon Smith (14 sacks in 2011) has recorded a sack against the Seahawks.
Arizona's Calais Campbell (eight sacks in 2011), Dallas' DeMarcus Ware (19.5), St. Louis' Chris Long (13), Carolina's Charles Johnson (nine) and Detroit's Cliff Avril (11) and Kyle Vanden Bosch (eight) have all been held without a sack in games against the Seahawks. Green Bay's Clay Matthews, second in the leage this season with nine sacks, didn't have one either.
That's not necessarily to say the Seahawks have completely shut those players down. Some made plays that didn't result in sacks. It's likely some commanded extra attention, creating easier opportunities for teammates. But it's worth nothing how the Seahawks have kept some of the better pass rushers in check, particularly with the issues they had in pass protection last season.
It's also worth nothing because Sunday's game will provide another test. Minnesota's Jared Allen led the league with 22 sacks in 2011 and has seven this season.
In the video below, Bob Stelton and Dave Grosby take a closer look at the challenge that Allen presents.
