Can Portis catch?

I'm thinking that might be what's in the works too.

As much as I'd like to keep him, I don't think either Portis or Wilson are going to be ready to step in as backups in the event that Flynn gets injured. Wilson, maybe, but an undrafted guy like Portis is probably still very raw, we'll see though.

Flavour-of-the-month QB Matt Flynn has proven absolutely NOTHING at the NHL level other than that he can hold a clipboard AND wear a baseball cap at the same time. MEANWHILE, Vince Young is still looking for a job. Hmm... He may not be the popular pick for uber-P.C. Seattle, but, who on the current roster has shown they're a better option? He should at least be here to give Flynn some real healthy competition for the starting job, because having to beat out the likes of Tavaris Jackson won't give a true measuring stick of what kind of talent he really has. Just as Jackson competing with (but not necessarily beating out) the likes of Charlie Whitehurst for the job wasn't all that impressive. Young should at least be given serious consideration.

That's obviously supposed to read Flynn hasn't proven anything at the NFL level, not NHL.

I'll take Jackson over Young any day (not a compliment to Jackson).

That's unfortunate. I hope this Flynn really can play the position over the long haul and that they hype he gets for merely backing up Aaron Rogers proves deserved. But, right now we just don't know. His fanboys in Seahawk Nation don't want to admit that and think he's going to be the next Hasselbeck just because they were both #2's on the Packer QB depth chart before being traded here. We'll see...

He's coming in knowing the system is going to get a full training camp and he's healthy. I think that he's going to give Flynn more competition than most of you think. He played pretty well last season while having a torn peck. The best QBs hold the ball to long at times, and for not managing the end of games, I put alot of that on the coaches and their idiotic play calling at the end of some of those games. Sometimes I think some of you are watching different games than I am. I see people getting overthrown because they're stopping on routes. The one that didn't (Rocket) had a really nice long touchdown. A whole bunch of dropped passes. You can't just look at the numbers, you have to actually watch and see what and why things are happening.

It would be stupid of them to drop Tavaris. He knows that system and would be a very serviceable backup. It has to come down to Portis or Wilson and I have to believe Wilson would be the favorite to make the roster at this point. He'd probably become the backup after Tavaris's contract is up and I'm guessing the Seahawks will draft another QB next year.

Trade Tarvaris Jackson for a 4th round pick? Man I know that pacific northwest finest must have been schmoked before that comment was typed! HA HA HA! WOW! I cant get over that. I wish we could get a 4th rounder for Tarvaris! Good luck with that!

I think most of the posters here are smoking something, because their posts are just plain and simply stupid.

Anyone who thinks otherwise should know more about the sport before making comments. It would be like me commenting on a gardening topic. I think TJack will be gone, but it wouldn't shock me if it is Portis.
