The City of Seattle is planning a gradual closure of the illegal homeless encampment near the West Seattle Bridge where a man was shot and killed Tuesday.
Wednesday morning, the city’s Navigation Team began putting up notices letting people know they will start clearing the camp Sept. 11. They’ll also work to connect people with services and drug treatment facilities.
The city says the plans were already in the works before Tuesday’s deadly shooting of a 31-year-old man. He was the third person killed near a homeless camp or RV this year, KIRO 7 reports. It was the second homicide this month.
Several RV fires have also been reported at the site of the deadly shooting.
