A shocking story has come out. Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is shrinking rapidly before our eyes.
Astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope calculate that the spot, a giant long-lasting storm, is narrowing by about 580 miles a year, much faster than before.
In the late 1800s, the red spot was an oval 25,500 miles wide. Now it’s a circle that’s 10,250 miles across.
In other words, something is happening to the climate on Jupiter to make it change.
I don’t know if they have cars on Jupiter. We were speculating earlier if they do, do they drive Saturns? I don’t know. They don’t have coal smokestacks, as far as we know. But the climate is changing on Jupiter.
How can that be? Could it be that the climate of planets changes without man’s influence?
This is dramatic stuff. Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is half the size of what it used to be.
So what I have proposed – and I haven’t gotten any feedback yet – but I’m calling on Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, King County Executive Dow Constantine, Washington Governor Jay Inslee, and President Barack Obama to push for a Jupiter Climate Change tax on people down here.
I know you’re thinking, what will that do? I don’t know. But at least we can feel like we’re doing something by giving money to the government.
What I think would be the best way to do it would be to make it a property tax in Seattle only. A Jupiter Climate Change Property Tax for Seattle residents. But I would like the president’s help in pushing for this, as well as the governor, the county exec, and the mayor, because if we feel like we’re doing something about the problem, that will make us feel good about ourselves.
I hope you will join me in pushing for a Jupiter Climate Tax. I don’t want to have to go the initiative route. But we need to do something about the shrinking Great Red Spot on Jupiter because heaven knows we must be somehow responsible for it.
I don’t know if you mowing your lawn last weekend, if somehow those emissions have seeped up there to Jupiter, but we’ve got to blame ourselves for this because there’s no other natural explanation for planetary climate change, is there?
