Ken Griffey Jr. talks about his son’s choice to play football over baseball

Oct 11, 2013, 11:26 AM | Updated: 12:06 pm

A TMZ reporter recently asked Mariners legend Ken Griffey Jr. how he feels about the fact that his son chose to play college football instead of baseball, considering generations of Griffeys have made a name for themselves in the sport.

Here’s what Griffey had to say about it:

“You can’t tell your child what to love and what not to love. He loves football and I’ve got to be supportive of that.”

Griffey says they’re hopeful his son, Trey, has a shot at the pros, but he’s young and should be out there having some fun.

Trey Griffey currently plays for the Arizona Wildcats.

Also, in Mariners’ news, 710 ESPN Seattle’s Shannon Drayer has the latest on rumors that the team approached Lou Piniella about returning as the skipper.
