Happy 25th, Washington Wine Commission
25 years ago, lawmakers in Olympia created the Washington Wine Commission to promote the state's promising wine industry.
Today, Washington is the number two wine producer in the US, with more than 700 wineries and 600 million dollars in sales.
From the news release:
"This year the Commission will celebrate the past 25 years by honoring the many great strides made in the Washington State wine industry. An expanded campaign for Washington Wine Month and the Washington Wine Restaurant Awards will take place in March."
This year also marks the 15th anniversary of Taste Washington, the largest "single-region" wine event in the country.
Taste Washington is set for March 31-April 1 in Seattle.
Happy Birthday to all of you at the Washington Wine Commission, and many more!
