Jay Inslee says decide what's important to you and vote accordingly

Polls have shown a close race between Washington state gubernatorial candidates Jay Inslee and Rob McKenna. The Ross and Burbank Show called up both candidates to see what they're doing to try and turn the tides in their favor the day before the election.

Calls are still out to McKenna, but Inslee appeared in the first hour of the show on Monday.

In his 10 minutes with Ross and Burbank, Inslee shared his stance on a few issues where the candidates diverge, and asked voters to consider what matters most to them and to vote for the person that lines up with their position on those issues.

Highlighting the issues he thinks are most important, Inslee said job creation in the state is his number one. He next spoke about maintaining Washington as a "forward-thinking state."

"We have always looked forward. We are the first state in the union that has voted to protect a woman's right of choice," said Inslee. "I'm the only candidate endorsed by Planned Parenthood because I'm the only candidate you can trust in the constellation of these issues."

His position on health care reform is another issue he points to where he differs from Republican opponent Rob McKenna.

"I'm the candidate who believes we should move forward with President Barack Obama on health care reform."

The final issue that ranked on his most important list was the environment. Inslee says one of his top priorities is maintaining environmental standards in the state.

"I disagree with my opponent, who says that we ought to be willing to reduce our environmental standards when our standards exceed those of the federal government," says Inslee.

Bottom line, he says voters should cast their votes in favor of the candidate that most represents their position on issues they see as important.

Rob McKenna did not make it on air for Ross and Burbank, but he will be making an appearance on The Dori Monson Show.

    And created a safety net for women....so where is a man's safety net? I guess if we make a mistake it is too bad for us correct? The fact that we use our "Body" to pay for 18 years of child support so we can visit a child or children every other weekend is OK for liberals everywhere.

    I have not listened to the Podcast yet to confirm what I am pretty sure I heard. If I am mistaken I will say sorry in advance but calling Rob McKenna a "Jerk" for not coming on your show is just childish and uncalled for. Perhaps he is busy with his final day before the election and was not in a position to come on the show.

    I am confident that he could easily school you and Dave any day of the week so relax. It is not like all of the other local leaders don't go on Dori's show because they can't handle taking any questions about their positions... You guys fully support and lob softballs at the request of Gregoire and McGinn and only ask what they allow in advance. Resorting to calling McKenna a jerk is low class and not something I would expect to hear from you or anyone on this station. Again if I did not hear you correctly I will say sorry in advance but I am pretty sure it was clear.

    I voted for it cause I dont care and dont want to hear about it. However Luke, dont you think the economy is important for roads, schools, the poor, charity, police, food banks, housing, hospitals, special needs children, fire protection, higher education????? You see Latte Luke, taxes are paid by workers and business, even evil corporations. Your Apple products you love were made by a private business. Gay's getting married won't mean squat if the country, the state, the city and the public GOES BROKE!!!!! Jobs are not a bad think, they are a good thing. You seattle libs are as predictable as a cartoon. You overplayed gay marriage by a ton.

    Rob finished up other obligations and was on Dori's show this PM. ... Not 'being a jerk', but conforming to schedules probably set weeks ago.

    But if you really want to identify a jerk, there is this called a looking glass.

    In all the years that I've been voting (since the 70s) it never even occurred to me to consider what's important to me and then vote accordingly. What a condescending attitude. Jay, I vote for the woman or man (Rep or Dem) that aligns with my view of what we as a nation need. Maybe you're used to your constituents voting for you based on the D behind your name, because it sure can't be for anything you've accomplished. God help us if you are our next Governor.

    Gay Marriage is the most importanat issue? Really? How about all the Mothers & fathers and PEOPLE that are out of work or underemployed? How about the fact that the Democrats ONLY SOLUTION to fixing the economy, as USUAL is to RAISE TAXES and KEEP SPENDING?
