Bonneville Seattle is raising funds for the construction of a second Fisher House at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma and we need your help.

Just calmly getting ready

You might think the gun community is, dare I say, up in arms about a possible assault weapons ban, but cruising the Internet, they seem to be taking it calmly and just preparing for it.

"In today's video, we thought that we would explore the idea - if you had to buy five guns to prepare for a potential assault weapons ban," says a YouTube published gun expert.

And they already know which guns will be targeted first: the AR-15s.

"This is going to be the number one gun that they'll be coming for because it looks evil."

But no need to panic, because you can just buy the core part of the gun, the lower receiver, as it's called, which is maybe $150, as many as you want, and and just add the other parts later.

"Now see, this is what is considered the gun, this lower receiver. Now under an assault weapons ban if you've got 10 of these laying around all you have to do is buy the uppers and everything else is the same because that receiver was grandfathered in, in such case because it was purchased before the assault weapons ban.

And you definitely want to stock up on the high capacity magazines.

"These magazines, they sell for like $15, when the ban comes back you can sell them for a hundred bucks a piece. You need to stock up - not only on guns - but stock up on the accessories as well."

I have to say, they don't sound a bit worried. So there you have it - whether there's an assault weapons ban or not, it sounds like there are still ways to maintain an arsenal - and even make a little extra money.

No NOTHING has doubled,NOTHING. Now prove to me how concealed weapon folks stoop 3K-4K shooting a year? You can't prove the unproveable. Of course it has been proved that those that play with guns usually have a impotence problem,The hardest thing they put in their hand is a gun barrel.I bet your in that group

Dave, for all the sound and the furry, this signifies nothing. - But I think you DO know that.
The president and Dianne Feinstein can bluster and propose all they want, but virtually go gun legislation is going to get thru the Senate - even with 55 democrats - let alone the House. ... Heck, on this one, Obama can't even count on Harry Reid's vote. ....... And don't even count on executive action. Obama may have different ideas about the Constitution, but he's not stupid.

So, again a lot of bluster - and a lot of liberals can get good press for their voters - but nothing is going to happen. The Second Amendment is part of the Constitution. And along with speech, press, religion and assembly, most Americans want to keep rights right where they are.

Yes your correct no gun legislation will get through the House or the senate unless voters put politicians on notice that they are putting their jobs on the line if they vote the WRONG way.THis go's for BOTH sides as they are both in the pockets of the gun lobby.Folks who want tougher gun laws need just as a effective lobby as the NRA has been for the pro gun side.I believe that the NRA needs to take a stance against the anti government crowd who believe that guns should be used against our own government if they feel their gun rights are threatened,I think most Americans (gun owners included) feel these people are totally NUTS and a danger to America

The point was I am a member of the NRA for life and they do lobby for me and millions of others. I've also called everyone of my legislators at the national level and told them my views, along with Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell. Oh, by the way, check out JPFO.org, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (you don't have to be Jewish to join). They are the ones who represent my views the closest and yes I am a dues paying member along with GOA and Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership (one needn't be a Doctor to join). Now as close as I can tell, since I am a dues paying member of those organizations and they are organized, then I reckon I'm a part of them, no?

Of course it makes sense if the NRA wants to overthrow the U.S. government they'll need weapons, ammo and armor better than anything the cops they will be shooting at will have.

It was kind of a rhetorical question. Cop killer bullet is another nonsensical term misused the frighten those not into firearms. It's a bullet that will penetrate body armor, which is any rifle round. Body armor can only withstand the slower rounds from handguns. In order to stop a rifle bullet, one would have to be wearing thick steel plates. When your grand-dad went deer hunting, you didn't know he was using "cop killers", did you?

    Funny...
The very thing politicians are trying to deter is just causing more of it to happen. e.g. deter gun use, and now we see a rise in gun purchases. I think we live in a schizophrenic society. We're trying to prevent killings but we legalize abortion. We're trying to outlaw the means(guns) with which the killings occur. Isn't the corollary then to outlaw the tools used for abortion? The problem is in the minds of the people pulling the trigger. We're unwilling to talk about the violent video games that depict gloom and desperation while glorifying "going out in a blaze". It's too bad we as a country can't tackle problems I think are more important. - Dependency on fossil fuels - National debt - Infrastructure - Personal responsibility - Education

Some day perhaps your side will understand that life does not start when the sperm and egg get together so ABORTION is not murder and is LEGAL in the USA.Your side doesn't like or accept this ruling but thats tough because ITs The LAW.THere will ALWAYS be problems that some may feel are more important but it does not mean other problems should not be addressed. Some thing need timing to get passed and the recent shootings made this the perfect time to act so people who want tougher gun laws are running with it. The Patriot Act waS PASSED THIS WAY

Some day, perhaps your side will understand that conception generates a sentient being deserving of the same rights as the rest of us, including the right not to be killed out of convenience and the right to defend themselves with tiny little AR-15s that will make abortion "doctors" think twice about turning a blind eye to their Hippocratic oath.
