Some cities saw otherwise peaceful May Day demonstrations disrupted by anarchists using a tactic called the Black Bloc. These are actually white males who dress in black, and carry metal poles which they use to smash windows of what they consider corrupt businesses.

And of course we all condemn this, but it turns out, the anarchists themselves are debating the Black Bloc. Yesterday some of them even chanted "This is not helping."

So I started searching anarchist websites:

And I found a debate among Canadian anarchists:

"If we're going to talk about violence, we need to be talking about corporate sponsors. We need to be talking about the police," said activist named Harsha Walia, who's been quoted on anarchist sites for her passionate defense of window smashing, even though she knows it tends to backfire.

"In terms of the fact that the Black Bloc reinforces and legitimizes the police state, the resistance will legitimize the police state, and if that argument is going to be used then we may as well never be on the streets," said Walia.

Plus, she says, the Black Bloc actually IS peaceful:

"As far as we know not a single individual and not a single animal has been harmed in Black Bloc tactics, what has been harmed is lifeless windows," said Walia.

Personally, I believe that anarchists were put on this earth to remind us what de-regulated young males are fundamentally like.

And I think anarchists would be much more impressive if they roamed the streets creating jobs.

Although I suppose, if you're in the glass replacement business that's exactly what they did. For a day anyway.

    They call themselves anarchists. They are no such thing. A debate among anarchists? Such a thing cannot happen. It would imply social interaction which requires self government thus eliminating the possibility the individuals involved are actually anarchists. The black flag, once raised, should be responded to in a reciprocal manner. Swift and preferably brutal punishment of the lawbreaking "anarchists" is appropriate. Humoring these vile creatures is most inappropriate.

    study the decrease in college graduation for men and the huge increase for women and the FACT THAT THE FEDERAL GOV TO THIS DAY FUNDS EFFORTS TO INCREASE GIRLS MATH AND SCIENCE RESULTS, yet spend 0 for boys specialized reading and writing results.     Those who abuse positions of economic power

    Those who refuse to pay an equitable wage

    Those who export American jobs paying $8 per hour to third would countries where people can work for 80-cents an hour

    Those who enjoy the protection and security of the US government and military, yet hide their assets offshore to avoid making financial contributions to same.....(Mitt)....

    If these bogus anarchists didn't exist, the people mentioned above would pay to have them created.     There was an awakening occuring in this country after the bailouts... people were beginning to realize that there were some powers that be in this country that were making it more and more difficult for the average citizen of this country to achieve the American Dream...     In my industry, which competes world wide, the mfg of low tech parts-that make a system, you will loose money by not going out of the US. Most mfg companies do not make a very high EBIT or profit margin. Companies must always work to make their plant more effiecient. By the way, exec's at the companies I am familiar with do not make that much money-as compared to the corrupt wall street. How do you put the genie back into the bottle-its 2012 not 1950 and the world is a changing.

    I think what you have to do is make it more expensive to do this overseas... there can't be free trade between nations.. not when 1 is free and the other is communist... That's the problem.. No American Worker can live on slave wages...     Unions have made it impossible for us to compete here in the US and the government has an envirorment that chases companies and people with their money out of the country. If you had any money or ran a corperation, you would do the samething. Governement should make the business envirment the best in the world but they don't so companies are forced to take their businees to other conttries to survive amd people like you don't understand economic 101 so I will consider the source.     I just don't think the problem necessarily lies with Unions or taxes in the US i think it lies with the trade agreements we have with foreign countries... When you're the richest country in the world and people have a high cost of living because of that, you can't just open up trade and business equally with very poor nations who have a nearly limitless source of almost slave labor... OF COURSE businesses are going to move stuff overseas to cut costs... Those companies will make way more profit if they can pay workers pennies on the dollar... There has to be reform with the trade agreements we have because those agreements ONLY BENEFIT China, India and all the other emerging 3rd.. now 2nd world countries.

    It's called survival!!! If you make a wiget here for $20 here and china can buile it for $10, what are going to buy? Plus the fact the our corperate taxes are double or higher than most countries no wonder companies go oversea's. I know this very well because I did business oversea's for 15 years. Also, make it easy for companies to return to the US with their funds without penilty, make it the best place in the world not only to do business but to produce jobs and it would happen. Make it the best place to have a factory but there again, we have to put up with the envirormentist and the tree huggers that they would try to shut them down. Liberals want it both ways and it just work that way. We need leaders that understand how the private sector is the driving force in this economy and not be against us like all small buusinesses feel this administration is every step of the way. With Obama politicos like John Corizine playing fast and loose with privatye funds with the blatant endorsement of Obama, can you blame the uncertainty of investors? #2: the FDIC only ensures $250,000 per bank, if one has many multiples of that, how easy is it to manage your portfolio? Answer: it's not. #3: Mitt has always stated first and foremost that his PRIMARY concern is with the American Economy. I think these punks should be punished too... but i don't think they should be put to death for breaking a window... keep it in perspective guy.

    They break private people glass and take away there ability to make a living, break their legs. They're lucky it wasn't my company, it would of been a pleasure to bust them up! They deserve gettin busted up destroying peoples peoperty becaus elife hasn't worked for them! The deserve what they get, NOTHING!

    just 'lucky'. If one of those so-called "safety glass windows" had severely injured innocent people, there might have been a different outcome. I can live with broken windows. What I'd like to see is 10-year jail sentences for this stuff. It's completely unnecessary...and OVER THE TOP.
