We found an issue to replace gay marriage!

A hot-looking Mom breast feeding her 3-year-old son as he stands on a toddler chair.

In the 24 hours since TIME Magazine sent out that photo, a nation that is normally outraged at BAD mothers who neglect their children was suddenly outraged at a good mother -- and that was only reinforced by the way the kid was crawling all over her during her interview on the Today Show:

And some people find this repulsive.

Maybe because it's so Third World and we think we're better than that.

But whatever is behind the outrage -- since when did it become OUR business to judge a mother with a child whose only problem seems to be that he got squirmy on the Today Show? If she was smoking in front on him, feeding him beer, or forcibly tanning him, sure -- but this is what breasts do!

I realize we've come to believe that nature intended the female breast to sell video games, cars and Sports Illustrated. Otherwise, I suppose, it would have been designed to automatically retract after the kid is weaned.

But how is it that a kid sucking on his dirty disgusting blanket at age three is normal, but breastfeeding at age three is not?

Why can't a woman choose this without being scolded? You know, not only is it still STANDARD in some countries -- it's supplemented for older children with pre-mastication, which is where the mother pre-chews some meat, and then shares it.

    Obama being on-board for gay marriage means unemployment will drop, the US deficit will shrink, Iran and nukes will go away, global trade will end and high paying US jobs will return, our schools will begin competing better with the rest of the world, the hopelessness of the welfare culture will end and men will take responsibility for their children and women will not get pregnant with the same amont of forethought as I have when I pick out my socks, the European financial crisis will end, as well as middle east terrorism, Iraq and Afganistan will become new age and peacefull ALL DUE TO GAYS GETTING MARRIED. FREE AT LAST!!! Oh and global warming will stop too!

    Breast feeding may actually be MORE popular than gay marriage on KIRO. Although giving the kid a beer on the Today Show would generate a lot of commentary, too. ............. But most parts of America are not the third world where a 3 year old might NOT otherwise have nutrition. And there's a whole baby food industry out there that must be maintained. .... Can you imagine the jobs lost at Gerber alone if ALL mothers breast fed until 3 ? ...... ........................ This whole thing smacks of outmoted ideas that society needs to evolve beyond. For jobs, if nothing else. .... But if President Obama come out tomorrow endorsing pre-mastication - he's lost the election for sure.

    the EU has military obligations (Nukes-Iran,N Korea, middle east, rwanda, etc) they just let the US do it all. This ofcourse makes it easier for EU to have 8 week vacations and loads of gov goodies. and yet, when the dust settles, even EU will not be able to provide all their nanny stuff.

    I'll answer. We have 1.5 million persons in the military as of September 2011. That is the highest number since 1993 (so no Paul, O is not "dismantling" the military). Our military budget is nearly $700 billion dollars. The 2011 budget is the highest per capita spending going back to 1962 (that is as far back as I can easily get), almost $4000 for every, woman and child living here in the US.

    We have over 200 military bases overseas.

    How much more do you want?

    What the heck are we doing with a Chinese dissident that Willard doesn't think we are doing enough for? What would YOU personally say if China butted in to protect a person in Omaha who ran afoul of US law?

    The reason the rest of the western world looks to us for defense can be easily seen in the "budget" just passed by the House that cuts domestic programs to "save" the bloated military.

    Are there welfare cheats and frauds? Do we have a ridiculous unemployment system here in the US? Do we have welfare queens driving Cadillacs? Do we have a tax system that allows Willard to pay 14% on a gross of $21.6 million while funneling a 10% (which he can deduct) of that to his church that owns this radio station? Do we have a bloated military budget?

    Yes we do.

    Oh Paul, Bill and Pat would not be happy being called Dr. Seuss.

    can countries in the western world sustain the nanny-welfare state for the long term. For instance, 50 years from now will it be better for blacks to have single mothers percentages increase from the 70% now to say 90% in the future. Are black poor children better off without a father and does welfare destroy fatherhood. Does the nanny state spend future generations money for todays goodies. Will the nanny state go away like communisim did in the 80's due to massive debt. William try again please- I expect more. Although you must admit the world needs some military to stop future genocide and hitlers from doing their evil.

    I was waiting for an appointment yesterday and decided to stop in for a beer at a tav in one of the seedier parts of the town I was in (I guess I sort of knew it was). Guess who were packing the place, at 3 PM. WHITE PEOPLE. Drunks, tats, fat and disgusting. I got the heck out of there fast.

    "Blacks" aren't the problem. Fat, lazy people who are drunk in the middle of the afternoon are the problem.

    however re Blacks, it is not just "blacks" but blacks that have been effected by the welfare culture and welfare is the DEFINEING program of the nanny state. Why I used poor blacks and the ever growing % of single mothers is that if one reads about the results of welfare it clearly shows that black families have been harmed by the welfare system, that the liberal program has done significant damage. Do you think that the 70% black single women who raise kids without a father, are slaves to government handouts, live in crime ridden areas with bad schools has not been harmfull? Only an idiot would think that there are not lame white people-I have distant family on the dole.They need a kick in the but not a handout. So answer, would black children have a better life if the % went to 90%? Would kids be better off if this % dropped steadily? Read "Losing Ground" and learn about unintended consequenses of the welfare-nanny state.
